Twitter’s Security Flaw Exposes 5.4 Million Accounts
This year Twitter’s security seems to be undergoing a thorough shakedown as yet again, a huge list of users’ personal information was gathered by a hacker and subsequently sold online. Turns out, this new security flaw allowed users to uncover whether an email address or a phone number was connected to an existing Twitter account.
This is how Twitter explained it:
It is known that the hacker compiled a list of 5.4 million accounts with the following information – a verified phone number or email address, and scraped public information, such as follower counts, screen name, login name, location, profile picture URL, and other information.
Now, this might not be as alarming as gathering info on someone’s credit card as you can get that kind of info in other means from the web, but it does pose a threat to those people who have tried to keep their Twitter persona completely separate from their real-life one. And it is said that the gathered dataset was already acquired by several buyers on the internet for around $30k.
TikTok Launches New eCommerce Tracking Hub For Selected Users
Now, we’ve already heard that TikTok is everyone’s new favorite social media platform, including but not limited to social marketing. A huge part of social media marketing comprises eCommerce, of course, and TikTok is making a huge leap towards becoming… an eShop?
Some TikTok users can now see a new button next to the ‘Edit Profile option called ‘Order Center.’ Once you tap on it, you can see everything related to the shopping you’ve done via TikTok – payment details, items you’ve tagged, recommendations, order status, and everything else related to it.
This ‘Order Center’ has already proved to be hugely successful in TikTok’s Chinese version, Douyin, but the western audiences do not seem to be as enthusiastic as their Asian counterparts. However, TikTok is still pushing this new feature with force, so we’ll have to hang in there and see how it goes.
Pinterest Launches New Board Sticker
Pinterest, somewhat of a social media marketing underdog, has been steadily stepping up its game to become an equally important part of this game. Their latest release, the Board Sticker, just proves the point.
This is how it works – selected users can now see the Board Sticker option with their Idea Pins (similar to Stories). Tapping on it allows users to choose from their existing boards to link to with various formats for your Board Sticker, which you can then add to your frame. Then whoever is watching your Idea Pin can tap on the Board Sticker and be transferred directly to said board, driving up referral traffic.
It seems like it might work great for highlighting specific products via direct links, and it could also drive more clicks overall.
